Titan Usje
TITAN Usje has been operating in North Macedonia for more than seven decades as an integral part of the international TITAN Group, consistently aligning its growth with the principles of responsible environmental management and sustainable industrial development. Since the start of operations in 1955, the company has evolved in parallel with national economic and infrastructural development, while continuously upgrading its environmental performance in line with European legislation, international standards and Group sustainability commitments.
Guided by the Group’s purpose “Making the world around us a safe, sustainable and enjoyable place to live,” environmental stewardship is embedded in all aspects of TITAN Usje’s operations. The company applies a comprehensive Environmental Management System, fully aligned with ISO 14001 and the EU Industrial Emissions Directive, ensuring systematic identification, monitoring and control of environmental aspects, continuous improvement of performance, and full regulatory compliance. Environmental protection, climate change mitigation and responsible resource management are treated as strategic priorities and are integrated into operational planning, investment decisions and risk management processes.
TITAN Usje operates modern, highly efficient production facilities equipped with Best Available Techniques (BAT), advanced process control and continuous emission monitoring systems. 24-hour independent monitoring system measures exhaust gases, with results transparently published and regularly communicated to the public and competent authorities. This approach reflects the company’s commitment to openness, accountability and constructive dialogue with stakeholders, while ensuring that environmental performance not only meets but in many cases exceeds statutory requirements.
A core pillar of the company’s environmental strategy is the promotion of circular economy solutions through the safe and environmentally sound use of alternative raw materials and alternative fuels. By co-processing non-recyclable waste streams in cement kilns, TITAN Usje contributes to reducing landfilling, conserving natural resources and lowering greenhouse gas emissions, while simultaneously supporting national and EU waste management and decarbonization objectives. Strict quality control, environmental risk assessment and compliance with Basel, EU Waste Framework Directive and IPPC requirements ensure that all materials are utilized in a manner that protects human health and the environment.
Climate action is a central component of the company’s long-term roadmap. TITAN Usje has established clear decarbonization targets in line with the TITAN Group’s “Green Growth Strategy” and ESG framework, focusing on CO₂ reduction through increased thermal and electrical efficiency, fuel and raw material substitution, digital optimization of processes and progressive integration of renewable energy sources. The installation of a 3 MWp photovoltaic power plant, covering approximately 10% of the plant’s daily electricity demand, represents a tangible step toward reducing indirect emissions and strengthening energy resilience.
Digitalization plays an enabling role in environmental management by supporting real-time process optimization, predictive maintenance and energy efficiency improvements. AI-based tools developed within the Group are already being deployed to enhance kiln stability, reduce specific energy consumption and minimize emissions, contributing to both environmental performance and operational excellence.
In parallel, TITAN Usje actively engages with local communities, institutions and experts on environmental topics, particularly in relation to air quality, climate change and sustainable development. Recognizing the specific challenges of the Skopje region, the company positions itself as a transparent and reliable partner, supporting evidence-based dialogue, joint initiatives and long-term solutions.
Through continuous investment in modern technologies, strict environmental governance, application of BAT, circular economy practices and decarbonization measures, TITAN Usje demonstrates a consistent and structured approach to environmental management. As part of a leading international Group and a responsible corporate citizen, the company remains firmly committed to minimizing its environmental footprint, protecting natural resources and contributing to a low-carbon, resilient and sustainable future for North Macedonia.
